“ Ooh, Ahh, Wow, that is so beautiful, I have never seen anything like this!” These are just a few of the things I often here when taking clients out on an adventure in mother nature. When going for a hike I can’t tell you how many times I get questions such as “How much farther?” or “How far have we been?” Then as we come around the bend and reach our final destination the clients faces light up.
All of the sudden, they forget all about the ups and downs of the trail. Moreover, the times they weren’t sure if they were going to make it. Instead, they stand in awe of God’s natural beauty. This is when I like to sit back and smile. For me, I have been fortunate enough in my life to experience such wonderment before. However, to pass that joy onto others is a whole new joy in and of itself. For the clients, this may be the first time in their life to experience nature in this way. The happiness, togetherness, and spirituality the clients feel from these experiences is really what drives me in the work that I do.Learn more about Oregon Trail Recovery to gain your own experiences through our addiction recovery programs.Robert Thurman
